"In 1928, bubble gum was invented by Walter Diemer. Walter was working as an accountant for the Fleer Chewing Gum Company in Philadelphia. In his spare time, he played around with new gum recipes. The gum he invented was less sticky than regular chewing gum and it stretched more easily. He sold his gum under the name dubble bubble in 1928. Original bubble gum was pink because it was the only food dye Diemer had on hand at the time.


The 23-inch (58.24 cm) bubble blown by Susan Montgomery Williams of Fresno, California in 1996 still holds the Guinness World Record as the largest bubble blown (in 1979, she broke the previous record of 17 inches [43.18 cm]).[1] Joyce Samuels of Louisville, Kentucky is the current Guinness World Record Holder for blowing the largest bubblegum bubble from the nose, 16 inches (40.64 cm)."
