After the World War II, Chile faces politic disturbances and the poet Pablo Neruda, leader of the Communist Party, chooses to escape the government's persecution. The movie portraits that flight in a path between reality and fiction, the poet's view and the so called reality view and takes the viewer along that duality journey where both visions mix together and create a new one, or even a novel. The whole movie is itself a poem where the poet and his chaser face their fears, sometimes in a somehow shamanic healing ritual. Who wins? You have to watch the movie to find out.
Algum dia em qualquer parte, em qualquer lugar indefectivelmente te encontrarás a ti mesmo, e essa, só essa, pode ser a mais feliz ou a mais amarga de tuas horas.
In a city you can find two different urban tribes. Both do basically the same things, although wearing different looks and different beliefs. Which of those are right?
What I see here is not the difference, but the extreme difficulty on living together by accepting that difference and that extreme difficulty is perpetuated by parents as well. Both groups feel and behave like people under extreme pressure to be whatever they or they parents want them to be. Both are like pans full of boiling water covered by misunderstanding just about to explode. Walking bombs!
But what shocked me the most was not this conflict. What shocked me the most was seeing a lawyer affirming that killing was correct and the fact that the jury and the population in general accepted that vision of one of the worst crimes: killing someone.

Destroy prejudice, misunderstanding, hate, lack of empathy, violence. After all, violence creates more violence.
Numa cidade encontras duas tribos urbanas distintas. Ambas fazem basicamente as mesmas coisas, embora envergando diferentes "looks" e crenças. Qual delas estará certa?
O que vejo aqui não é a diferença, mas a extrema dificuldade em conviverem em harmonia aceitando essa diferença e essa dificuldade extrema é perpetuada pelos pais.
Ambos os grupos sentem e comportam-se como seres sob extrema pressão para serem o que quer que eles, ou pais querem que eles sejam. Ambos são como panelas cheias de água a ferver, tapadas por preconceitos, prestes a explodir. Bombas andantes!
Mas o que mais me chocou não foi este conflito. O que mais me chocou foi observar um advogado afirmando que matar era correto e o fato de tanto o júri como a população em geral aceitarem esta visão de um dos piores crimes: matar alguém.
